Heather Hall

is an independent private piano teacher living in New York City, formerly living in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. She earned the Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh with Enrique Graf as her piano professor. During graduate school, she also earned a Certificate in Piano Pedagogy under the direction of Hanna Li. Her organ professors over the years have included Ed Highberger in Greensburg, PA, John Romeri, formerly at Christ Cathedral in Los Angeles, CA, and John Balka, formerly at the Cathedral of St. Matthew in Washington, DC.
Mrs. Hall has taught piano lessons privately for 27 years, including two years as an adjunct faculty member at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where she also earned her undergraduate degree in piano performance. Her students have performed in recitals at concert halls and at other community locations. She continues to be an active member of the Music Teachers National Association and the American Guild of Organists.
Beginning at age 11, Heather Hall began her life as a music minister. She was one of two youth organists at her parish - playing at the school weekday Masses also on Sundays at the parish Masses. Then in high school, she began to expand her skills by accepting positions at Methodist and Lutheran churches near her home. Following her college graduation, Heather was named as Assistant Director of Music and Organist at Pender United Methodist Church in Fairfax, Virginia. From here, Heather moved back to Pennsylvania where she served consecutive 5 year terms as a Director of Music in the Diocese of Pittsburgh and in the Diocese of Greensburg. In January 2010, Heather began her music ministry as Director of Music at Church of the Holy Family in New Rochelle, NY where she joyfully serves this vibrant parish in her family's new home. In her more than 30 years experience as a church musician, she has played the organ, flute, and handbells, coordinated professional and volunteer leaders of song, and directed vocal and handbell choirs for adults and children. During the 2022-2023 academic year, Heather began to lead the music at Masses and Retreats for the Cardinal Hayes High School community in the Bronx.
Mrs. Hall taught all of the students in grades Pre-K3 through 8 for a weekly music class at Corpus Christi School in Morningside Heights for seven years before its closing in 2020. This regional school of the Archdiocese of New York is where her sons are alumni and where she prepared all the students for Christmas and Spring concerts in addition to school liturgies and prayer services.
Heather Hall has performed with the Belle Vernon High School (PA) drama department for their spring musicals including Barry Manilow’s Copacabana, Oklahoma, Oliver, and Once on This Island. She has other piano performance experience with the Johnstown (PA) Symphony Orchestra and for the Lazarus/Macy’s Channel 11 Carol Sing which was broadcast on live television in the Pittsburgh Area.
While a graduate piano student, Heather Hall accompanied vocalists in the studios of Mimi Lerner, Andrea Hanson and Douglas Ahlstedt. In addition to her studies, she was also the student assistant to the Concert Manager. In this work, she produced programs for over 100 concerts each academic year.
Heather serves as Vice President of the Board for Every Voice Choirs in Morningside Heights and as Secretary of the Board for Theos Beth-el in Nyack, NY. She lives in the Inwood neighborhood of Manhattan with her husband and two sons -- one Eagle Scout and one working toward the rank of Eagle Scout.
